Generic - gTLD Rules (.com, .net, .info & .org)

gTLDs are open to all on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are very few rules assigned to these TLDs outwith the length and what characters can be within the domain name.

TLDs - .COM, .NET, .INFO & .ORG

  • Registration Time real-time

  • Registration period 1-10 years
  • Renewal period 1-10 years
  • Allowed character length 3 - 63 characters
  • Allowed characters a-z, 0-9, -According to RFC 5891 IDNs MUST NOT contain two consecutive hyphens in the third and fourth character positions and MUST NOT start or end with a hyphen.

Auth-Codes

  • The format for auth info requires a minimum length of 8 characters and a maximum length of 32 characters.

Additionally, auth info must contain at least one of each of the following three character types:

  • Alphabetic characters: a-z; A-Z
  • Numeric characters: 0-9
  • Special characters: !;<=$%?&@[()]*^+-,'-{.|/}:~
